Fishing Charters

We have several options to cater for your needs and time restraints.

• Coastal fishing runs for a minimum of 3.5 hours which is a half day  ($130pp)
• A full day of coastal fishing, 7 hours  ($225pp)
• Harbour fishing runs for 2.5 to 3 hours  ($90pp)

Fishing in Akaroa is all year round. The best catching times in summer are at change of light, so early morning or twilight. In winter it is throughout the day.

The combination of time spent on the water along with stunning scenery and wildlife make for a memorable experience.

In summer there are seldom two consecutive days when you are unable to get out to fish. We recommend that you stay overnight in Akaroa to maximise your potential fishing time.

In winter the weather can be more dramatic. This however does provide some of the best fishing weather and catches.

We do not head way off shore and compete with the higher swells as 80% of all table fish in New Zealand are caught within 200m of shore.  We bottom-fish in the comfort of the outer bays along the coast of the Pacific Ocean.  The usual catches are blue cod, red cod, trumpeter, sea perch, terakihi, gurnard and kahawai. If you are lucky there are also salmon, shark and king fish.
